Firmware update Sony Alpha 9 II - V2.0
Sony have released a firmware update for their flagship camera, the Alpha 9 II
Firmware V2.0 adds the following features:
High Frequency Flicker Function.
What it fixes:
- LED panels in stadiums have higher frequency than 120Hz/100Hz. Because of that, it cannot been handled by existing anti-flicker function.
How it’s Fixed:
- This “Hi Frequency flicker” enables you to adapt the frequency by tuning shutter speed finely.
Improved operability of [Face/Eye Priority in AF] function.
What is fixes:
- It has previously not been possible to turn on Face/Eye AF in a single button press, this can prove tricky when adapting to differing shooting scenarios very quickly (Like an action sports shot, to a portrait/documentary shot)
How it’s fixed:
- When set to custom key, Face/Eye Priority in AF function can be turned on / off each time it is pressed. Find it in the Custom Key Setup menu.
Improvements to operability of FTP transfer function
What it Fixes:
- Connecting the camera to the RemoteCameraTool app is convoluted and currently time consuming to access wifi via the controlling device and connect to a network the camera creates.
How it’s fixed:
- Added the function to display MAC address as QR code – Use the app to scan the back of the camera to connect RemoteCameraTool application, the process is simplified and speeded up.
Added function to close the shutter when you turn off the camera.
What it fixes:
- Based on feedback from Ambassadors and Professionals, when changing lenses with the camera off, the shutter curtain remains open which means dust/debris can find it’s way onto the sensor during the lens change process.
How it’s Fixed:
- The shutter now closes and stays closed once the camera is turned off.
Other Updates:
- -Correspondence to save or load the customized camera settings on My MENU
- -Improves the overall stability of the camera
