This month's winning image
This month we awarded Dave Green £250 worth of Castle Cameras vouchers for his stunning image of a Greylag gosling. We asked him a little bit about himself and how he got the image.
"The image was taken at Longham Lakes and is of a Greylag gosling.
I like to visit at least once a week if I can. On this occasion I took a different route around the lakes and came across the Greylag family on the bank.
I sat down a safe distance from them and began to study their behavior. Most of the clutch were busy grazing but the one in the photo decided to explore it's surroundings and momentarily stood
upright and stretched it's wings, luckily I had the camera ready at the time.
I'm currently using a Sony A7RIV with the 200-600mm. My digital journey started with a Canon 350D kit from yourselves many years ago!
I'm a keen amateur wildlife photographer and like to visit the many reserves and parks the we are blessed with in this area. Among my favourites for wildlife beside Longham are Stour Valley, Stanpit, RSPB Arne and Keyhaven marshes.
In early 2020 I was lucky enough to visit Sierra de Andujar nature park in Andalucia, Spain in search of the elusive Iberian Lynx. On the final evening of the trip we were treated to a sighting of this rare wild cat, truly a magical experience.
