Nikon Z 6II and Z 7II Firmware v1.60
Nikon today announces the release of its latest firmware version 1.60 for its full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Nikon Z 6II and Z 7II.
The update introduces several new features for improved operability and display settings which respond to user needs.
Shooting in dark scenes, such as astrophotography, will now be improved with the introduction of warm display colour options. The use of a red colour display helps improve vision in lowlight scenes by reducing eyestrain and suppressing brightness. This new option comes in two modes. In mode one, everything on the display is changed to red. In mode two, only the settings information turns red.
Image frame display has also been updated so users can choose to display a thin white border in the monitor and EVF, which indicates the area to be captured, making it easier to check the composition of the image. And a smaller magnification for the viewfinder (live view) display can now be selected during image playback and video live view.
The new View Mode Setting enables the user to select whether or not the effects of settings remain visible when a flash unit is attached. These settings can be found under view mode, and can be enabled by switching the ‘show effects of settings’ to ‘always: Including the use of flash’. This is optimal for adjusting the exposure of backgrounds and other objects that are not affected by the speedlight.
The firmware upgrade further improves the information display in movie recording mode. By introducing a red REC frame indicator in both the viewfinder and monitor during video recording, users are prevented from misrecording.
