Autumn Is Upon Us

Autumn Is Upon Us

See the Colours

Autumn is finally here after a super-hot September; the colours of autumn are starting to emerge and there’s no better time to head out with your camera to capture those colours.

A circular polariser can be a very useful tool to enhance those colours. Normally a circular polariser is used to cut down on reflections from water or glass, but it also enhances blue skies and will enhance the yellow, red, and brown colours of autumn. If you don’t already have one in your kit bag…. treat yourself ;)

Weather Is Your Friend

You should not wait just for sunny days to go out to take photographs. Bad weather can give your photos a dramatic edge that is not present on beautiful days.

Foggy weather can act like a natural soft box giving a lovely even light, if the sun is starting to break through, the effect of sun and fog creates dramatic shadows, turning the most mundane looking shot into something extraordinary.

Rain will saturate colours enhancing the richness of a shot, but care must be exercised in protecting your gear a rain cover gives the best protection even if your camera is weather sealed it’s not worth taking the risk if it is chucking it down.

If it’s a windy day, this can produce great photographs, whether you’re shooting street photography and observing people struggling in the wind or shooting landscapes/nature and the powerful effects wind has on the environment.

So bad weather is not so bad, become a ‘weather watcher,’ you won’t be disappointed with your photos.
