New! Panasonic launch the Lumix S1RII

S1RII body: £2999

S1RII & S 24-105mm f4 lens kit: £3799

Available end of March

Panasonic have announced the next step in their full-frame camera line-up. The LUMIX S1RII is their take on the ultimate full-frame hybrid camera.

To back up this claim, it features a new 44.3MP back side illuminated CMOS sensor with high-performance processor that work together to deliver impressive stills and video with LUMIX’s renowned colour science. It also has an impressive hand-held hi-res mode which can deliver immense 177MP still images.

Where this camera really shines is in its video performance. The S1RII is the first LUMIX camera to capture 8K video which massively opens up creative possibilities. The popular Open Gate feature has been improved, which means content creators can shoot in 6.4K (and even 8.1K with a future firmware update) then crop the image in multiple ways for delivery to multiple platforms. Internal recording of 5.8K ProRes RAW HQ is also available.

The auto focus system has also been refreshed with real-time recognition Phase Hybrid AF, including AI tracking which means it can lock on to human faces and eyes quickly and accurately and track them with ease, whilst shooting up to 40 fps.

Image stabilisation is also improved, now offering 8.0 stops of compensation with in-body stabilisation, and 7.0-stops even with telephoto lenses using dual I.S.
