Liz Greenway - Autumn Leaves
We absolutely loved judging the photo competition and seeing all the brilliant pictures which were submitted. Huge thanks to everyone who entered. Liz’s picture stuck out because the colours were so autumnal. The light she has captured makes the picture jump off the page. We just want to climb through those leaves and explore the woods. Well done Liz.
We asked Liz to tell us a bit about the photo and her journey into photography.
I got into photography a few years ago when I was still at work. I took early retirement last year and, since then, have been able to spend much more time on my hobby which I absolutely love.
My favourite time to take photos is sunrise. There is something magical about being out and about with nature first thing in the morning.
I really struggled originally with all the "complicated" camera settings, thinking that I will never be able to grasp it. It probably took me at least 3 years to get off the auto setting!!! One day though I had a "light bulb moment" and the penny suddenly dropped regarding F stops, shutter speed and ISO.
During the first lockdown I had been put walking for exercise in a local woodland in Verwood, where I live. I re-visited the same wood a few weeks ago to check out the autumn colours and this composition jumped out at me. It was stunningly colourful, entwined through the branches of an old tree. I had to do s bit of photographical "gardening" before taking the shot and experienced scratches etc but, hey ho, it has to be done!!
My camera is a
Panasonic Lumix G80 which I love. My camera is my friend whenever I go out. My main lens which I use 90 percent of the time is an
Olympus M Zuiko 12-100 which means I can always pack light because of the fantastic range this lens gives me. I didn't use any filters for the shot.
So don't forget to join the Echo Camera Club Dorset for your chance to enter the competition. There is a monthly competition for £50 of Castle Cameras vouchers as well as the quarterly competition for £250 of vouchers.
