Advanced lens design

As well as optimised lens coatings, a 3-layer combined lens helps to reduce ghosting by reducing the surfaces in contact with the air as much as possible.

Designed to perform in extremes

The exterior is coated in the same white heat shield coating as used on the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM and RF 70-200mm lens to prevent deterioration in performance in high temperatures.

Seamless integration with RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM

A mechanism which limits the zooming of the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM zoom range (300 to 500 mm) prevents the lens elements hitting those of the extender.

"Picture quality is very good but it is annoying that on my 100-500mm you cannot collapse the lens down to below the 300mm mark. This makes targeting the lens harder and makes stowing the camera a pain in a standard bag. "

"The first thing you notice is how over packaged it is, the box is 3 times the height of the extender. You also need to check if it's compatible with the lenses you want to use with it, as, very surprisingly, it's not compatible with all RF lenses. Operationally, it seems to do the job quite well, at least for my amateur purposes. "

"The 1.4 converter, being a Canon product, does not disappoint. I found my 600mm lens was getting too heavy for hand holding, so switched to the 100-500 lens + 1.4 T/c. So extra reach and great quality maintained. Castle Camera's staff are always very helpful and so friendly."

"Service was good and communication spot on. The 1.4x extender does exactly what is expected without any noticeable degradation of image quality. If you need to get closer to your subject I would recommend the product. Only negative is the price... Too expensive in my view."
