Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50mm Binoculars

  • Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) objective lenses provide high resolution, high contrast images virtually free of optical defects like chromatic aberration (colour fringing)
  • Fully multi-coated optics deliver maximum light transmission through the optical path
  • Phase coated BaK-4 prisms produce vivid, true-to-life colours
  • Eyeglass friendly - generous eye relief and sturdy, twist-up eyecups with multiple stops
  • Tripod adaptable

Celestron’s award-winning Nature DX binocular gets a major upgrade with the addition of ED objective lenses. Nature DX ED’s optical performance rivals that of more expensive binoculars, at a price to fit your budget.

ED Objective Lenses

Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass virtually eliminates chromatic aberration, also known as colour fringing, a visual defect common in binoculars. Nature DX ED delivers razor sharp images, even at the edges of the field of view. ED glass is also known for producing images with outstanding, true-to-life colour.

Not all ED glass is created equal. Celestron’s high quality ED glass delivers visibly brighter, sharper images compared to non-ED binoculars. The difference is especially apparent in low light conditions, such as at dawn or dusk.

Coatings and Prisms

Nature DX ED features fully multi-coated optics. A binocular can be considered “fully multi-coated” when all air-to-glass surfaces are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflectivity coatings so that the maximum amount of light passes through the glass to the eye.

The prisms inside Nature DX ED are made of high quality BaK-4 glass with phase coatings applied so that more light is reflected off their internal faces and passes through to the eye.

Taken together, fully multi-coatings and BaK-4 prisms maximize light transmission for the brightest, most detailed images possible. The ED objective lenses further enhance these features, especially in low light conditions.

The Body

A durable rubber armoured, polycarbonate housing protects your Nature DX ED binoculars from damage. Viewing through Nature DX ED is comfortable for both eyeglass wearers and non-eyeglass wearers, thanks to the durable twist-up eyecups. Twist through multiple click stops to find the position that works best for you. What’s more, the binocular is fully waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging of lenses. Nature DX ED can stand up to even the toughest outdoor conditions.

Tripod adaptable

The binoculars are also tripod-adaptable (adapter sold separately) for extended viewing sessions or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece).

Ways to Observe

Carry your Nature ED on the comfortable included strap. It’s also tripod-adaptable, so you can mount it on any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). The tripod adapter is sold separately. The binocular also includes a protective padded nylon case for storage and transport.

Customer Reviews

By KamilSkorczewski on 7th December 2024
"I’ve had Celestron Nature DX ED 12x 50 for several months now. I have only owned a small pair of binoculars before which were rubbish. Really wrestled with myself if I should buy this product or get the cheapest amazon binoculars. The decision was right. This pair of binoculars are incredible! The clarity of vision, the magnification and ease of use! I live on the hill with a good view. When I look at junctions miles away I can nearly read reg plates of cars that go around! The nature is also great to watch. Birds and squirrels. Perfect. To my surprise you Can also see the phases of mars and jovian moons! You Need to stabilise your elbows because they csn shake a bit. One downside is ice got narrow face and binoculars are barely wide enough for me. Hence one star down"

"These are good binoculars with good colour correction and resolution. I use them for astronomy and they give lovely views of the night sky, star clusters and nebula especially. The only thing I can fault is the magnification is a little high for hand support, you do need a tripod or even better a parallelogram mount to stop the shakes. "
