"I wanted to get my first prime following the metadata showing my most used focal length was in and around 18mm I thought this would be the best bet. Other reviews said it's super sharp and very quiet focusing etc. and I can't stress enough how sharp this lens is. I have an XT-4 and I feel like I could go well over the top if I wanted to extreme crop into an image and it still looks incredible. It seems to resolve well beyond the XT-4 capability and can only imagine how nice it is on the new 40mp sensors. It is also lightweight and compact making it a great option for anyone wanting the low light capabilities from the f1.4 here. One concern I have read a lot is people worrying about the durability of the OIS when turned off making noises when the magnets are not activated. I accidentally left it in my bag for about 5 hours facing vertically in one of the bumpiest rides on the back of an ancient Toyota Land Cruiser which was flying me out the back pickup seat during a trip to Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan and when I went to use it that evening I was terrified I'd ruined my new lens...turns out people worrying about carrying it around at a wedding have nothing to be worried about as it still works perfectly and would imagine it could take many more years of abuse like this without concern...USE YOUR GEAR DON'T NURSE IT. My only slight disappointment is that it definitely is quiet but not as quiet focusing as some would say when out of full manual exposure. I have used Aperture Priority a fair bit since having it and find it wwrr's and hisses a bit (been like this since before the Land Cruiser) and in a busy environment etc. it's no worries but is a little annoying when trying to take stealthy shots with the electronic shutter etc. Haven't filmed with it yet so can't comment on it being a problem for video though very much doubt it would be. All in all it is a beautiful lens and I can't wait to leave it on my XT-4 over the xf16-55 much more in future. Top quality and durability from Fujifilm making me really happy I am within their eco-system."
