The 24mm F3.5 is constructed of 10 elements, including 3 aspherical elements and 1 SLD element, which help keep the lens small and light and reduce unwanted aberrations. Image quality is exceptional across the whole frame, even with the lens wide-open at F3.5.

Superb close-up ability

The 24mm F3.5 has an exceptionally impressive magnification ratio of 1:2, which means it can focus very close to the subject to capture macro-style images. The minimum focusing distance is just 10.8cm from the sensor to the subject, which makes the working distance between the lens and subject less than 6cm.

High-performance optics

Despite being extremely small and light, the 24mm F3.5 does not compromise on optical quality. Its advanced optical design includes 10 elements in 8 groups, of which 3 are aspherical elements and 1 is an SLD element. These help keep the lens compact while greatly reducing the appearance of chromatic aberration around areas of high contrast.

Vignetting is very minimal even wide-open, which is an important feature on a wide-angle optic.

Excellent build quality

As with the other optics in the I series range of premium compact primes, the 24mm F3.5 has an all-metal build comprising precision-cut aluminium parts. Its robust construction and ultra-portable design make it perfect for street, travel, wedding and landscape photography, or any situation where having lightweight kit is important. The lens has a dust- and splash-proof mount to help keep it safe in difficult shooting conditions.

A manual aperture ring allows aperture to be controlled either by the lens, or, in Auto mode, by the camera if preferred. The action is smooth and precise, ensuring the very best lens ergonomics.

The tactile knurled metal finish used for the lens hood, focus ring and aperture ring make handling the lens and changing settings extremely intuitive. Included with the lens is a magnetic metal lens cap in addition to the regular plastic cap, which further improves ease of use.

Made in Japan

All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at their sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs. But SIGMA believes that keeping virtually all manufacturing, processing and assembly in Aizu is essential for creating innovative, carefully thought-out and impeccably constructed products that meet the high standards demanded by professional photographers and film-makers around the world.
