Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 DC HSM Art lens for Nikon

The Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 DC HSM Art lens is perfect for a wide range of photo and video applications, including portraits, events, weddings and wildlife.

The lens’s fast constant F1.8 aperture ensures fast shutter speeds in low light conditions, as well as a shallow depth-of-field for high impact results.

  • Four SLD Elements, Three FLD Elements
  • One High-Refractive Index Element
  • Super Multi-Layer Coating
  • Hyper Sonic Motor AF System
  • Fixed, Rotating Tripod Collar
  • Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm

Designed for APS-C DSLRs, the 50-100mm F1.8 is a high-performance mid-telephoto optic that combines prime level image quality and a fast aperture with the convenience of a zoom.

Its complex optical design of 21 elements includes 3 SLD and 4 FLD elements, which help ensure extremely minimal chromatic aberration an any aperture or focal length.

Ideal for portraits

With its F1.8 constant aperture and mid-telephoto focal length, the 50-100mm is perfect for portrait photography. The bokeh is smooth and attractive and does not distract from the in-focus subject.

High-performance optics

The 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art for DSLRs boasts outstanding optical quality, with excellent rendering of detail right into the corners even wide open at F1.8.

The lens has an advanced optical design made up of 21 elements in 15 groups, including 3 SLD elements and 4 FLD elements. This ensures razor-sharp results with very minimal chromatic aberration, flare, distortion and vignetting.

An advanced Super Multi-Layer Coating helps to reduce flare and ghosting when working in bright direct sunlight.

High-precision construction

The superb build quality of the 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM is exactly as you’d expect from an Art-line lens, both in its intuitive ergonomics and in the quality of craftsmanship.

The lens’ outer barrel is made of a polycarbonate called Thermally Stable Composite (TSC), which is not only strong and light, but has a similar thermal expansion rate to aluminium. This ensures that the interior aluminium parts and the exterior TSC parts behave in the same way as temperatures change.

The focus ring is rubberised for easier operation, and focusing is internal, meaning the lens never changes length.

To help ensure a balanced set-up when used on a tripod, a tripod collar is built in, which can be rotated for To reduce flare and ghosting in bright sunlight, and to help protect the bulbous front element from damage if dropped, the lens has a robust petal-type lens hood.

The durable brass mount is surrounded by a rubber seal to help keep out dust and moisture.

Made in Japan

All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at their sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs. But SIGMA believes that keeping virtually all manufacturing, processing and assembly in Aizu is essential for creating innovative, carefully thought-out and impeccably constructed products that meet the high standards demanded by professional photographers and film-makers around the world.
