Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG Macro Art lens for Lumix L-mount
The Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG Macro Art lens is perfect for extreme close-up and portraiture photography.
With a magnification ratio of 1:1, this high-performance macro lens captures tiny objects such as insects, flowers, food and textures in stunning detail. The lens’s 70mm focal length and wide aperture also makes it very useful for portraits, as well as events and weddings.
- Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/22
- Two FLD Elements, Two SLD Elements
- Low Dispersion and Aspherical Elements
- Super Multi-Layer Coating
- 1:1 Magnification, 10.2" Min. Focus
- Coreless DC AF Motor, Manual Override
- Weather-Sealed, Brass Bayonet Mount
- Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm
Its F2.8 aperture ensures fast shutter speeds in low light, making it easier to hand-hold the lens, and the bokeh is smooth and creamy to ensure beautiful rendering in out-of-focus areas.
Optically the lens delivers exceptional performance, with edge-to-edge sharpness even at F2.8, ensuring professional quality results in any shooting situation.
Focus distance markings
The 70mm macro boasts focus distance and magnification markings printed on the inner barrel, helping photographers manual focus more accurately.
A great option for abstract photography
With its extreme close-focusing ability, the 70mm macro is the ideal lens for picking out abstract compositions that focus on shape, texture and colour. This can produce painterly or other-worldly images that would be hard to notice with the naked eye.
High-performance optics
The 70mm macro delivers incredible image quality with superb rendering of fine detail, even when used wide-open at F2.8.
Its advanced optical design is made up of 13 elements in 10 groups, including 2 aspherical elements, 2 SLD elements and 2 FLD elements, ensuring razor-sharp results and helping to eliminate chromatic aberration, flare, distortion and vignetting.
Advanced optical coatings reduce flare and ghosting when working in bright direct sunlight, creating high-contrast images with rich colours and strong blacks.
More features
A range of controls on the lens include an AF/MF switch and a Focus Limiter switch, which reduces the focusing range for faster and more accurate AF. This is particularly useful if there are objects closer to the lens than the subject, such as grass, or if the lens tries to lock focus on a busy background.
Outstanding build quality
The 70mm F2.8 DG MACRO displays the exceptional level of build quality you’d expect from an Art-line lens, both in the materials used and the quality of craftsmanship.
The exterior barrel is made of a polycarbonate called Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). Not only is this very strong and light, but it has a similar thermal expansion rate to aluminium. This ensures that the interior aluminium parts and the exterior TSC parts behave in the same way as temperatures change.
A large rubberised focus ring allows easier operation, and the lens also has autofocus.
To reduce flare and ghosting in bright sun, and to help protect the front element from damage if dropped, the lens has a robust polycarbonate lens hood
The durable brass mount is surrounded by a rubber seal to help keep out dust and moisture.
Made in Japan
All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at their sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs. But SIGMA believes that keeping virtually all manufacturing, processing and assembly in Aizu is essential for creating innovative, carefully thought-out and impeccably constructed products that meet the high standards demanded by professional photographers and film-makers around the world.
