Sigma AF 105mm f2.8 Macro DG DN Art lens for Lumix L-mount 

With a magnification ratio of 1:1, this true macro lens for mirrorless cameras is designed for focusing extremely close to a subject to capture it in a very high level of detail.

It’s perfect for photographing natural-world objects such as insects and plants, but it can also be used for non-macro subjects such as portraits and landscapes.

The lens delivers exceptional image quality, with razor-sharp results across the whole frame at all apertures. The maximum aperture of F2.8 ensures fast shutter speeds in low-light conditions as well as a shallow depth-of-field for blurry backgrounds.

A number of professional-level features are built in, including a manual aperture ring with de-click and lock switch, an AFL button, a focus limiter and a dust- and splash-resistant structure.

The lens' 1:1 magnification ratio allows extremely close focusing, and its pin-sharp optics render exceptional detail.

Professional feature-set

A range of controls on the lens include an AF/MF switch, and a customisable AFL button (depending on camera model).

The lens also has a click/de-click switch so that the aperture ring can be adjusted smoothly rather than in hard stops. There’s also a lock switch that keeps the aperture ring in either Auto or Manual.

A powerful stepping motor ensures fast, accurate and quiet AF and excellent AF tracking capability.

A Focus Limiter switch reduces the focusing range for faster and more accurate AF, useful if there are objects closer to the lens than the subject, such as grasses.

High-performance optics

The 105mm macro delivers incredible image quality with superb rendering of fine detail, even when used wide-open.

Its advanced optical design is made up of 17 elements in 12 groups, including 1 SLD element, ensuring razor-sharp results and helping to eliminate chromatic aberration, flare, distortion and vignetting.

Advanced optical coatings reduce flare and ghosting when working in bright direct sunlight, creating high-contrast images with rich colours and strong blacks.

Perfect for portraits

Often overlooked is that macro lenses are fully capable of shooting more distant subjects. With its short-telephoto focal length and F2.8 aperture, this compact prime is ideal for head-and-shoulders portraits.

A great option for abstract photography

With its extreme close-focusing ability, the 105mm macro is the ideal lens for picking out abstract compositions that focus on shape, texture and colour. This can produce painterly or other-worldly images that would be hard to notice with the naked eye.

Outstanding build quality

The 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO delivers the exceptional build quality you’d expect from an Art-line lens, both in the materials used and the quality of craftsmanship.

The exterior barrel is made of a polycarbonate called Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). Not only is this very strong and light, but it has a similar thermal expansion rate to aluminium. This ensures that the interior aluminium parts and the exterior TSC parts behave in the same way as temperatures change.

The focus ring is rubberised for easier operation and focusing is internal, meaning the lens never changes length. This makes it ideal for use on a gimbal as the centre of gravity remains fairly constant.

Towards the rear of the barrel is an aperture ring so that aperture can be changed on the lens, and it has an Auto setting should users prefer to change aperture using the camera.

To reduce flare and ghosting in bright sun, and to help protect the front element from damage, the lens has a robust polycarbonate lens hood

The durable brass mount is surrounded by a rubber seal to help keep out dust and moisture.

Made in Japan

All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at their sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs.
