Designed specifically for mirrorless cameras, the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS employs the High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) motor, which delivers fast, precise and near-silent autofocus.

For photographers who like to shoot hand-held, the lens features an intelligent two-mode Optical Stabiliser that delivers seven stops of stabilisation zoomed out, and six stops zoomed in, which makes it possible to shoot in lower light conditions.

Other professional-grade features include a focus limiter, three customisable AFL buttons, Dual Action zoom, a Zoom Lock switch, two custom buttons, a dust- and splash-resistant structure, a built-in tripod collar and a lockable lens hood.

Close focusing for macro-style shooting

Not only does the large zoom range make the 60-600mm a highly versatile optic, but it also has a very impressive magnification ratio of 1:2.4 at 200mm, making it possible to shoot close-ups of flowers, insects and other macro-style subjects.

Perfect for abstract landscapes

The 600mm focal length makes it east to crop in tight on a small vignette within the landscape, even from some distance away. This allows photographers to eliminate the foreground and sky to create a more abstract or minimal composition.

HLA focusing motor

The 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports was the first SIGMA lens to be fitted with its High-response Linear Actuator motor, which controls the focus group of lens elements. More powerful than a stepping motor, it ensures extremely rapid AF, which is important for an ultra-telephoto lens. It’s also very accurate and near-silent, and works well with focus tracking systems.

The other advantage the powerful HLA motor brings with it is that it can move larger and heavier focusing groups than a stepping motor, which unlocks the door more advanced optical designs, and therefore sharper results.

Professional feature-set

A range of controls on the lens include an AF/MF switch,  an AFL switch, and OS switch, and a Custom Mode switch so that the lens set-up can be customised.

The lens also has a Focus Limiter so that the focusing range can be reduced for faster and more accurate operation. This is particularly useful when there are objects in the frame between the camera and the subject that the lens might attempt to focus on.

Dual Action Zoom means photographers can zoom with the zoom ring for accuracy, or by pushing or pulling the end of the lens for speed. The push-pull functionality is very useful for fast moving subjects.

The 4-stop Optical Stabilizer has a mode for general shooting and one for panning – ideal for fast-moving birds and vehicles.

High-performance optics

The 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | S delivers outstanding optical quality, with excellent rendering of  detail right into the corners at all focal lengths and at all apetures.

The lens has an advanced optical design made up of 27 elements in 19 groups, including 3 SLD elements and 2 FLD elements. These ensure razor-sharp results and help to eliminate chromatic aberration, flare, distortion and vignetting.

The lens has advanced optical coatings which reduce flare and ghosting when working in bright direct sunlight, creating high contrast images with rich colours and strong blacks.

Outstanding build quality

The exterior barrel of the 60-600mm is constructed of three different materials: magnesium alloy, Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) and Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). The use of these materials is carefully optimised to maximise durability and strength while keeping weight to a minimum. All three have a sleek finish for a premium look and feel. The lens hood is made from CFRP, which is very strong and light, and has a rubber grip at the end for easy fitting and removal.

The zoom and focus rings are rubberised for easier operation, and the zoom ring can be locked at various positions using the Zoom Lock switch.

The 60-600mm sits in the Sports line-up, which means it is designed to withstand the rigours of heavy professional use. This includes a dust and splash resistant structure with special sealing at the mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, and cover connection, allowing photographers to work in all types of weather.

At the rear of the lens is a tripod collar and foot for better balance when the lens is on a tripod, which can be rotated so that the camera can easily be switched between portrait and landscape orientation when mounted on a tripod. The foot has an Arca Swiss dovetail notch so that it will mount on an Arca Swiss compatible tripod without the need for a tripod plate.

The durable brass mount is surrounded by a rubber seal to help keep out dust and moisture.

Made in Japan

All Sigma cameras and lenses are designed, manufactured and assembled at their sole factory at Aizu in Japan. This domestic production model is unusual in today’s industry, with most imaging companies opting to outsource to other countries to reduce costs. But SIGMA believes that keeping virtually all manufacturing, processing and assembly in Aizu is essential for creating innovative, carefully thought-out and impeccably constructed products that meet the high standards demanded by professional photographers and film-makers around the world.
